Victory Church

July 24 - August 6, 2013 - Staff Pastor: Chris Crow & Trip Coordinator: Sonya Martinez

With its youthful population, great economic disparities, and porous borders, the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) hosts a diverse range of human trafficking activities, from the global operations of transnational criminal organizations, to small scale local syndicates that recruit acquaintances, friends, and family members.

South Africa is commonly regarded as the main country of destination for trafficked persons in the region. In many cases, women and children are lured to South Africa with promises of jobs, education, or marriage, only to be sold and sexually exploited in the country's major urban centers, or in small towns and more rural environments. There is also some indication that men are being trafficked into the country for purposes of forced labour, particularly in the agricultural sector.

Participants on this trip will tour cities and towns in South Africa making presentations to schools and community centers about the dangers of human trafficking, as well as promoting the human value we have as God's children. You’ll need to pack light, bring your sleeping bag, and come ready for adventure and a rigorous schedule.
